Shepard Fairey
Shepard Fairey is one of the most influential street art artists and illustrators of our time. He creates silkscreens, sculptures, stickers or paintings that combine art with political statements. Fairey achieved worldwide popularity in 2008 when his iconic portrait of Barack Obama was used in the US presidential election campaign. For the inauguration of Donald Trump, the artist created three time-critical portraits in similar shades - with faces of a Muslim, Latin American, and Afro-American women. His polarizing works always move between graffiti, illustration and pop art. In addition, influences from the advertising industry and allusions to propaganda strategies can be recognized.
