Jakobus Durstewitz & Fettes Brot

Fettes Boot

On the occasion of Fettes Brot's farewell tour, the Affenfaust Galerie presents the special exhibition "Fettes Boot" from August 25 to September 3, 2023. Visitors can look forward to a photographic retrospective of the band's history as well as current images of the tour. The exhibition also features paintings by the artist Jakobus Durstewitz, who created the 9 x 20 meter stage design for the band's farewell tour.

A look at Jakobus Durstewitz's biography reveals further links to the band, which are also visualized in the exhibition: Durstewitz founded the duo Das neue Brot together with his brother in 1989 and, like Fettes Brot, performed at the Dockville Festival in 2008 with his later founded band JaKönigJa. The artist, who lives in the Lüneburg Heath, has been responsible for the Dockville Festival's artwork since the beginning with his paintings and helped shape the musical scene of the Hamburger Schule.

After almost 30 years, Fettes Brot are now "finally pushing their barge into dry dock," as the band themselves put it on their website. The exhibition "Fettes Boot" gives, in the context of their very last concerts at Hamburger Trabrennbahn, the opportunity to dive into the world of B(r)oot and thus also into a piece of Hamburg's art and music history.
