Conjunction

With CONJUNCTION, the Affenfaust Galerie is presenting a new exhibition format that builds on the long-established KNOTENPUNKT series and at the same time develops it in a clearly contemporary direction. While KNOTENPUNKT stands for the connection of different artistic trends, CONJUNCTION focuses on current tendencies in the visual arts.

The exhibition brings together works by 32 international contemporary artists whose works are located somewhere between painting and installation and reveal a variety of artistic positions. The space is characterized above all by large-format works that reveal both individual signatures and thematic connections through powerful colour concepts and a clear conceptual orientation. The deliberately generous hanging gives each work space to unfold, enables concentrated reception and promotes surprising references between the works. The result is an exciting interplay of image, space and contemplation that invites intensive examination.

Ein Werk der international beachteten Künstlerin Xijao Wang – aktuell eine der einflussreichsten Stimmen der chinesischen Gegenwartskunst – bildet das Keyvisual der Ausstellung. Ihre Malereien zeichnen sich durch meditative Tiefe, technische Präzision und poetische Spannung aus. Exemplarisch für das breite Spektrum der gezeigten Arbeiten stehen außerdem Leinwandpositionen von Larissa Rosa Lackner und Johannes Kersting sowie skulpturale Werke von Gregor Gaida.
