Figurative art is art that clearly has strong references to the real world, especially to the human figure, depicted in the art work. The realistic item of the artwork can both be naturalistic or abstractly represented. Abstract normally means that something is non-figurative, but abstract figurative art works is also a style, which for example can be experienced in the works by the french artist Florian Eymann. Aesthetically, his works have an abstract expression, but you are not in doubt about the references to the real world.
