Martin Flesch

Martin Flesch lives and works in Aachen, Germany. Since studying Visual Communication, he has focused primarily on oil painting. His work balances the traditions of classical landscape painting with the visual language of contemporary popular culture.

His paintings depict places that initially seem ordinary: backyards, roadside verges, industrial estates, façades, and overlooked corners of the city. These are real locations, captured in fleeting moments of light and shadow. They could exist almost anywhere—here, there, or just around the corner.

The only fictional element is often the graffiti. Introduced as deliberate interventions into reality, they reflect Flesch's early roots in the street art scene. As a result, his paintings exist between documentation and intervention, portraying urban environments that feel familiar while resisting any precise geographical identity. From seemingly incidental cityscapes emerge quiet reflections on perception, memory, and the poetry of everyday life.
