Tony Star

TonyStar is an artist and designer from Novi Sad, Serbia.

Started in 2001 as a graffiti writer and since then he explored the huge spectrum of the visual world. He worked as a designer for 10 years. Knowledge of different visual and industrial fields opened his horizonts, refined his sensibilities and made new connections.

His work can be viewed as contemporary art considering tools, materials and aesthetics. Tony considered himself as a pioneer of “plasticism” style since his first computer-generated and modeled graff “Star” was painted on the wall in 2013.

Tony’s work explores different art forms while staying visually consistent, recognizable and authentic as he looks at the forms through the lenses of a specific visual phenomenon - reflective surface.

He is currently juggling between murals, graphics, canvases and figurines. Every piece represents a complex journey and it comes from the artist's sympathy to a certain visual or narative phenomenon.

“I try to move forms through different visual environments while fetishizing reflective surfaces and surreal taste. It’s like a game. I try to find certain phenomena and catch them. Observe it from different angles, isolate it, twist it, bend it, question it and fine tune it…. It’s a long but exciting journey into the unknown. Visual universum is full of gems. It makes me excited when I see them. That drive never leaves me alone.”
