Philippa Brück
Boundaries dissolve, forms merge, familiar motifs appear in a new light. In her pulsating pictorial worlds, Philippa Brück creates surreal dream sequences between abstraction and figuration, between tradition and contemporary sensibility. A subjective and emotional view of nature questions the familiar and awakens the unknown. Philippa Brück focuses on transitions and changes, the unstoppable cycle of life and the fragile relationship between man and his environment. Fragments of plants, flowers or shells mutate into abstracted bodies, dreamlike landscapes full of sensuality and subtle ambiguity.
Everything is in motion, blossoming, decaying and reshaping itself. In her works, she plays with the boundaries of over-aestheticization, distorting, alienating and deconstructing her motifs. It is only at second or third glance that other more concrete forms and elements can be recognized in the organic shapes.
Naturalism recedes into the background in favor of the surreal. Endless cosmic spheres shine between and behind silky, delicate textures. Philippa Brück's velvety surreal landscapes transcend everyday visual habits and resemble transcending parallel universes in their opulence.
