JULIUS BOBKE
Julius Bobke, born in Schweinfurt in 1992, studied fine art at the UdK Berlin and graduated as a master student in 2017. His artistic practice interweaves and expands classical painting with digital processes and sculptural elements. Taking up and developing art historical references is combined with a strong reference to materials and craftsmanship. Pictorial elements and motifs are detached from their original context and transferred into new, contemporary themes. Questions of identity, relationships, the definition of masculinity, martial arts and reflection on the medium of painting characterize his work. His works have already been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad as well as in art associations and at art fairs. These include the Kunstverein Schweinfurt, the Kunstverein am Rosa Luxemburg Platz Berlin, the Position Art Fair as well as in Israel, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Bobke is represented by Galerie Nina Mielcarczyk, Leipzig. Bobke was awarded the Ulrich and Burger Knispel Prize, received the Neustart Kultur Stipendium and the Deutsche Bank studio grant. He lives and works in Berlin.
