Jessi Strixner

Jessi Strixner (born 1992) lives and works as a wood sculptor in Munich. In her art, she mainly deals with the effect of clothing and questions its meaning as a means of expression within our society. She transforms wood into realistic-looking garments and objects - from carved bras to socks and garbage bags - that often receive little attention in our everyday lives. For Jessi Strixner, clothing is much more than a second skin - it can be a sign of belonging or have a social function, but it can also offer protection or be an expression of identity. Clothing lets the personality speak without saying a word. By detaching the garment from the person and presenting it in isolation, hung up almost at random, she reduces it to its symbolic statement and elevates it to an almost iconic state that tells a story.
