Franz Werk
Growing up in Leipzig, Franz Werk discovered the graffiti scene early on in his youth. Driven by the dynamism and the thrill, he devoted himself intensively to this subculture. This gave rise to new impulses. He began to create large-scale murals, devoting himself to classical painting and combining it with unusual backgrounds. Werk combines classical art forms with modern elements in his work. His paintings embrace a strong visual aesthetic and symbolism, combining both historical and contemporary themes. Figures from Greek mythology and classical sculptures are depicted alongside contemporary elements such as cars and urban scenes. In his current works, Werk explores the connections between beauty, decay, violence and destruction, a theme that is deeply rooted in art history. His works encourage us to recognize the beauty in dark themes.
