Her works are characterized by the harmonization of the idyllic and the dystopian, the beautiful and the bizarre, creating alternative universes. These universes are brought to life through the use of pastel and bright colors, captivating the visitor.
A central theme in her works is nature, with female figures often taking center stage. Her artistic approach breaks away from the traditional concept of the "sublime" and turns to the earthly - the essence of human existence. Alejandra Caicedo explores themes such as beauty, love, suffering and contradictions in her works. She strives to portray the human experience in a humble but conscious way, appreciating the magic in the little things and finding lessons and guidance in nature. Intimacy and the warmth of personal moments play as important a role in her art as the exploration of suffering, anger, excess and grief.
Alejandra Caicedo's art is a constant questioning and a fight against self-destruction. Her works serve her consciously or unconsciously as instruments of catharsis and liberation, enabling her to create alternative realities or to understand her unique interpretation of the world. Through this intense and personal engagement with her art, she is able to tell profound and moving visual stories that are thought-provoking and moving to the viewer.
