“Welcome to Miami” brings summer into Affenfaust Galerie – filled with vibrant colors, playful energy, and a sense of lighthearted joy. Between neon aesthetics, pop references, and a seductive visual language, the exhibition evokes a world of sun, consumption, and excess at first glance.

Beneath this shimmering surface, however, the Leipzig-based artist duo Doppeldenk operates with subversive precision: their works translate the contradictions of contemporary life into absurd visual worlds, exposing the mechanisms of advertising, politics, and collective belief systems. Inspired by the concept of “doublethink” from George Orwell’s 1984, they explore the coexistence of conflicting truths.

Through wooden sculptures, neon works, and wall reliefs, color and form condense into a multilayered visual language oscillating between humor and critique. The result is a dynamic tension that both entertains and unsettles, inviting viewers to question their own perception.

Doppeldenk consists of two artists, who live and work in Leipzig. Alongside exhibitions in Germany and abroad, they have been active in public space for many years, creating large-scale murals, objects, and design works that consistently merge pop culture with sharp social commentary.
