Maens
The “maens” have been around for 20 years. The minimalistically painted characters, animals and plants and now also objects can be found mainly in Hamburg, but also in all kinds of other places around the world. You can discover them not only on walls or more or less public places, but also in magazines, books, on canvases, stickers, on skin and in exhibitions. They have also appeared on television in a spot on the subject of “inclusion” by Aktion Mensch. The family continues to grow, but the most popular “maen” remains “seemaen”. His message is simple: “home is, where the ocean is” - as a child of the seven seas, he symbolizes cosmopolitanism, impartiality and tolerance. The maens are mostly black and white, but by no means stand for black and white thinking, but for diversity and a colorful togetherness. The “maens” have already realized several projects with and for Viva con Agua, Clubkinder and Hanseatic Help, were part of the Millerntor Gallery and collaborate with other artists such as fraujule*, Fritten Freddie or CMYK dots.
