Felix Eckardt

Felix Eckardt was born near Hamburg in 1975. In his artistic practice, he combines traditional techniques with a distinctive visual language, creating works that capture urbanity, light, and atmosphere in a striking way. His paintings move between realistic scenes and dreamlike, almost surreal moments, defined by powerful colour compositions and a keen sense of emotional depth.

Eckardt studied Painting and Illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences before continuing his studies at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. International study and working stays, including in London and New York, broadened his perspective and have had a lasting influence on his artistic language.

His work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and abroad, including in Hamburg, Frankfurt, Berlin, Zurich, and at international art fairs such as Art Karlsruhe, Kunst Zürich, and the Salon der Gegenwart in Hamburg and Potsdam.

Alongside his exhibition practice, he has published several monographic art books, most recently the acclaimed Lichtarbeit (2022), featuring literary contributions by renowned authors including Eva Menasse, Leif Randt, and Bernd Ulrich.

In 2020, the German newspaper Die ZEIT featured numerous of his paintings as part of its Decameron project. His work has also been profiled by media outlets including ZDF, NDR, Sat.1, and Phoenix, firmly establishing his position as a contemporary painter with a distinctive artistic voice. His works are held in numerous private collections and are appreciated by an international audience.

His studio in Hamburg has become a vibrant cultural venue, hosting concerts alongside painting exhibitions. These events have gained a strong following and enjoy great popularity.
