Anna Kruhelska
Anna Kruhelska is a visual artist based in Łódź, Poland, whose contemporary practice is deeply informed by her architectural background. After graduating in 2006, she spent fifteen years working for leading architectural firms in London. Her involvement in large-scale projects across the UK, Russia, and Malaysia fostered a profound understanding of form, symmetry, and space—principles that continue to shape her artistic practice.
Inspired by minimalism, architecture, and geometry, Kruhelska creates abstract three-dimensional wall reliefs from paper and wood. Her works engage in a constant dialogue with light, changing their appearance according to the viewer's perspective. The interplay of light and shadow, contrast, colour, and repeating patterns lies at the heart of her artistic exploration.
Technology plays a central role in her creative process. Using creative coding and parametric modelling, she develops digital compositions that are translated into physical objects through CNC cutting and other precision manufacturing techniques before being meticulously refined by hand. This fusion of technological precision and craftsmanship defines her distinctive visual language.
Kruhelska's artistic journey began in 2018 with experiments in paper, leading to a series of white paper reliefs that quickly attracted professional attention and established her presence within the contemporary art world. In 2020, she presented her first solo exhibition at Woolff Gallery in London. This success encouraged her to expand into larger formats and introduce colour into her practice. Alongside her paper works, she developed the mixed-media series "Constant Change" and "Parallel Perspectives," combining wood, acrylic paint, and geometric relief structures into vibrant sculptural wall pieces.
Her paper and wooden reliefs have been exhibited internationally in cities including Miami, Boston, Houston, Dallas, Dubai, Venice, and Dortmund. She has also participated in prestigious art fairs such as Art Miami, Art Palm Beach + Contemporary, and Art Karlsruhe.
